Standard selling fees

Our standard selling fees provide you with access to a package of Amazon tools and services. They’re divided into two basic types: selling plan fees and referral fees.

In addition to selling fees, you might have added costs if you use certain optional tools and programs like Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) or Amazon Ads. Ultimately, you get to control the cost of selling in the Amazon store by selecting the programs, tools, and services that are right for your business.

Referral fees

Amazon charges a referral fee for each item sold. The amount depends on the product category. Most referral fees are between 8% and 15%.

Fulfillment fees

The cost to ship your orders depends on whether you fulfill your own orders or use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).

Other costs

Some sellers may incur additional fees (such as long-term storage fees) or pay for optional programs like advertising or premium account services.

Selling plans

We offer two selling plans so you can choose the right package of tools and services for the right price. Each plan also provides you with access to a specific group of optional programs and tools.

Most sellers select our Professional selling plan because it provide them with a larger set of benefits that helps them manage and grow their businesses. But if you don’t plan to sell more than 40 items per month, an Individual plan is a great option. There’s no need to worry about selecting the right plan: you can switch or cancel anytime.

Referral fees

Referral fees vary by product category. For every item sold, you’ll pay a percentage of the total price or a minimum amount, whichever is greater.¹

Fulfillment Fees

Fulfillment fees depend on whether you plan to ship products yourself, or use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) to handle your logistics and offer Prime shipping for your products.

Getting paid and paying fees

When you set up a seller account, you’ll provide a credit or debit card number and a bank account. Amazon will charge the credit or debit card to cover your fees, and proceeds from any sales will be deposited into your bank account.

Estimating fees

If you’re a current seller, you can view fee estimates for your products on the Manage Inventory page. Look for the Estimated fee per unit sold column.

As you think about the full cost of selling in Amazon stores, be sure to consider additional selling expenses you may incur, and other optional programs designed to help you increase sales.

Inventory fees
If you store inventory in an Amazon fulfillment center—available to sellers who use FBA or Multi-Channel Fulfillment—in addition to monthly inventory storage fees, you may incur other fees, such long-term storage fees and removal order fees.
Rental book service fees
If you offer textbook rentals, expect to pay a rental book service fee of USD$5.00 for each rental.
High-volume listing fees
When you have a high volume of active, non-media listings that have not sold in 12 months, we charge a monthly fee of USD$0.005 per eligible listing to cover cataloging costs. We waive this fee for the first 100,000 listings.
Refund administration fee
If you refund a customer for an order for which you have already received payment, Amazon will refund you the amount of the referral fee you paid for the item(s), minus the applicable refund administration fee, which is the lesser of USD$5.00 or 20% of the referral fee.

Optional programs

Advertising
Attract customers from the time before they even realize they need your product to the time they’re purchasing it. Amazon Advertising use a cost-per-click, auction-based pricing model, meaning you set the maximum amount that you’re willing to pay when a shopper clicks your ad.
Fulfillment by Amazon
Amazon takes care of your shipping, returns, and customer service. Specialty FBA programs like FBA Small and Light, Subscribe & Save for FBA, FBA Dangerous Goods, Multi-Channel Fulfillment, and FBA Export help you remain competitive and pay only for the services you use.
Inventory placement service
By default, when you send inventory to an Amazon fulfillment center, you may have to send your inventory in multiple shipments, each directed to a different receive center or fulfillment center, based on the products you're shipping and where you are shipping from. By having your inventory spread across multiple fulfillment centers across the country, customers who buy your product may receive it faster than they would if your inventory was located farther away.

Our inventory placement service allows you to send all of your eligible inventory to a single receive center or fulfillment center. When the shipment arrives, we then split up your inventory and send it to different fulfillment centers for you. A per-unit service fee applies.
Amazon-partnered carrier program
Amazon-partnered carriers offer discounted rates when you send inventory to an Amazon fulfillment center.

Premium account management and other services are available to help craft your business plan, offer personalized coaching and training, and provide information to help you grow your sales on Amazon.
