Ask Me Anything: Fulfillment Options for Singapore Sellers on Amazon.com

1. What is "fulfillment"?
Fulfillment is the process of storing, packing, and shipping orders, as well as handling returns and exchanges. Some businesses manage fulfillment in-house, while others use a service like Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) or a combination of in-house and third-party options.
2. How do I ship my products from Singapore to the US?
As an ecommerce seller, you can choose to fulfill your products to customers in-house, use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), a third-party logistics provider, or a combination of all three to effectively manage your fulfillment capabilities. You can mix and match fulfillment options to find the right solution for your products that are sold on your website or through Amazon.

Remember, you can always choose one fulfillment solution and change it later to match your business needs as you scale.
3. Can Amazon arrange for delivery from my warehouse directly to my customers?
No, Amazon does not have a service for picking up your deliveries and sending them directly to your customers. There are different ways of delivering your products to your customers – you can choose to fulfill your products in-house, through a third-party service provider, or through Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).

If you choose to fulfill your products through a third-party service provider, Amazon provides a list of trusted and vetted service providers who can help you with international shipping, returns, FBA preparation and more. Check out the full list here.
4. How does Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) work?
You will be able to use FBA with a Professional seller account. If you decide to use it with your eligible products, you will send inventory to Amazon fulfillment centers, where we will handle shipping, customer service, returns and refunds for those products.

Learn more about FBA here.
5. Which fulfillment method should I use?
Here are some considerations when choosing your fulfillment method.

Self-fulfillment may be right for you if you:
- Sell a low volume of products
- Have space to store your products
- Keep a small amount of inventory
- Deal with minimal fulfillment requirements
- Are able to provide customer service and returns
- Have smooth-running logistics process in place
- Have temperature sensitive goods

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) may be right for you if you:
- Turn over inventory quickly
- Have a large inventory but no storage options
- Are unable to fulfill orders in-house
- Don’t have a logistics process in place
- Have limited resources for customer service and processing returns
- Need a cost-effective, pay-as-you-go fulfillment option
6. How do I start selling with Amazon FBA?
It takes four steps to get started:
1) Create a Professional selling account
2) Create your product listings
3) Prepare your products
4) Ship your products to Amazon

7. What can I sell with Amazon FBA?
Generally speaking, most products for sale in Amazon’s store are eligible for Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA). You can sell virtually anything — from teas to t-shirts. Some products may require prior approval before you can sell them, while certain products must meet specific requirements before qualifying for FBA.

10. Are there any guidelines or requirements for shipping products with FBA?
Yes, it is important to prepare your products for safe and secure transportation to a fulfillment center, according to Amazon packing guidelines and shipping and routing requirements.
11. How much will fulfillment cost?
The cost to ship your orders depends on whether you fulfill your own orders or use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).

When you fulfill orders yourself, Amazon charges shipping rates based on the product category and shipping service selected by the customer, and passes the amount to you in the form of shipping credit.

When you fulfill orders with FBA, Amazon charges a fee per unit that is based on the weight and dimension of your product. This fee includes picking and packing your orders, shipping and handling, customer service and product returns. Use the FBA revenue calculator to estimate fees.

12. Are there any courses on how to use Amazon FBA?
Seller University provides free educational resources to help brands, businesses and entrepreneurs learn how to succeed as Amazon selling partners. Access courses on fulfillment and FBA here.
